Porterville College maintains a program of Veterans’ services to assist veteran students and their dependents. Staff of the Student Services and Admissions offices work with the Veterans Administration to assist veterans and their dependents in claiming and receiving the educational benefits to which they are entitled.

All veterans and dependents who wish to receive VA educational benefits must adhere to the following procedures:

  1. File an application for eligibility in the college Student Services Center.
  2. With the assistance of the Veterans’ Counselor (Frances Carrera), select a specific educational objective that may be realistically pursued, at least in part, at Porterville College.
  3. Request that copies of high school transcripts and transcripts of work completed at other collegiate institutions, if any, be sent directly to Porterville College’s Admissions and Records Office.
  4. File a petition in the Office of Admissions and Records for evaluation of all previous college work and other relevant education including military school experiences to determine the amount of credit that will be accepted and applied to a degree program at the college.
  5. Notify the Veterans’ Counselor immediately of any changes in address or enrollment status. This includes all changes in class programs during each term of attendance.
Students should contact or any counselor for further information regarding Veterans’ educational benefits.
